Feb 12, 2016 Could I have missed a driver? I have currently uninstalled the 257.89mb killer Network Driver and replaced this with the 0.43mb Killer Network Driver. Device Manager lists the Windows 10 Standard SATA AHCI Controller as my IDE ATA/ATAPI controller. I don't know if this is a -Windows 10- or -970 Chipset Drivers- problem. - Onboard LAN works well, dunno about all the gaming software to reduce lag or whatever.
- The color scheme is nice, it's a pretty board.
Cons: - After two and a half years, simply fails to POST. No response, no signs of issues. Literally died idling. No load or reason.
- Tended to reset my DDR3 1866 down to 1333 for some odd reason. Always had to manually reset it to 1866.
Other Thoughts: I always recommended this board, but when it died on me, I stopped recommending it. I expected a decent board to last longer than a couple years.

From the back plate, to the style, it is on slick well featured, sturdy motherboard, with a great BIOS interface.

-Slick Design with complimenting Black/Red and the MSi Badge
-Rather Sharp looking I/O Shield ((and cushioned as well which makes installing it a rather pleasant experience))
-Plenty of options to expand builds further down the ((SLi/Crossfire compatible as well))
-BIOS is surprisingly easy to navigate which makes Overclocking much, much easier for the uninitiated ((which can be a good or bad thing))
-Packaging was Superb; Very slick box ((almost as sexy as the board itself...almost))

-Had some issues with it freezing my computer, though updating the BIOS via M-Flash has since then seemed to have fixed that problem ((would recommend doing so))
-Refurbished. More of a personal grievance honestly, just be careful when you go this route and get some extra warranty in case it dies prematurely or is DOA.
Other Thoughts: My con's came from some issue I had when setting it up as well as how I chose to buy it. However, these things are easily fixable and as long as you don't get fiddling around with anything you have no knowledge of then you shouldn't have an issue with it. As before, I recommend updating the BIOS as soon as possible to keep it up to date. As for a one day owner though, I love this thing; it is one of the sexist pieces I own and has plenty of options for expanding horizons for your build.
I highly recommend getting one for yourself to add some flare to either an existing build that needs love or a brand new one.
Msi 970 Gaming Motherboard Software
Pros: This board is laid out incredibly well. The CMOS clear jumper is accessible even with a two-slot video card in place. RAM has plenty of clearance from big block coolers. The cooling blocks are all effective but low-profile enough to not interfere with other parts. The software is fantastically simple, and the OC Genie functionality neatly bumped my 8320 to 4.0 Ghz without any tinkering on my part. The audio is nicely crisp and clear, and the included backplate is gorgeously designed. Despite being a refurb, it looks and functions like a brand new board.
Cons: None to be found here.
